Cane Creek Preserve is the private trust of geologist Jim Lacefield and Faye Lacefield. From one point on the property, you can see for seven miles without civilization. The fall color should be a no-miss spectacle. We will arrive at Cane Creek Nature preserve where we will make an easy 3/4 mile hike to the primitive camping area called "The Shelter". (An ATV will assist those who have disabilities). There we will pitch our tents and enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch we will go on a wildflower hike with botanist Charles Rose. We will return to the shelter where we will build a fire and roast hotdogs. After dinner Tom Hendrix will stop by for a storytelling program about Native Americans and how he built a stone wall to honor his Grandmother's walk on the Trail of Tears and back, Before the evening is through we will get out the chocolate and make s'mores before turning in. After breakfast we will pack up and take a 5-8 mile geology hike with Jim Lacefield. We will picnic while on the hike.

Note: This trip is limited to a maximum of 30 campers. Bring a picnic lunch for Saturday and Sunday, and basic camping supplies (Fresh Air Family will provide a tent if you need one).
