While many cities and counties in the U.S. have placed bans on fireworks because of noise or increased fire risk do to high temperatures and drought-like conditions, we're guessing there are some of you who will be setting off a few bottle rockets or Roman candles tonight or tomorrow. So, when you do, keep in mind the following safety tips we've cobbled together (more in-depth reading is available at each link):
- By all means, make sure water or a water source (like a hose) is close at hand.
- Properly dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before throwing them away.
- Never try to make your own fireworks.
- Remember: These things are best left to (responsible) adults.
