Life on Two Wheels
Ride a bike to get where you're headed. Looking for a better MPG than your hybrid? Look in your garage and hop on that bike. On this day, 189 years ago, the bicycle was first patented. Celebrate in style by getting on your very own two-wheeler and taking a trip out to eat, to a friend's house, or down to your local farmers market. We don't expect you to go everywhere on your bike, but by replacing just one car trip with one on a bike, you'll be a bit fitter and will prevent pollution. And, you can spend your newfound gas savings on some tasty produce.
Commentscommented, on June 26, 2008 at 9:13 p.m.: I've been carless since April--my last one died and I took it as an opportunity. My life is not only cheaper, it's less stressful. If I'm not riding the bike, I'm on the bus or the train, happily reading and letting someone else deal with the driving. Cars are great--for long trips and heavy loads. But owning one, I ended up driving a lot more than I'd planned to. I am enjoying my newfound freedom Post a commentYou must be a registered user to post comments. |

I ride my bike and take the Music City Star everyday to work. I live in Mt. Juliet. Bikes are great transportation. They keep both you and the Earth in better shape. It also makes getting places more fun. Don't forget to always wear a bicycle helmet when you ride! It' Tennessee state law if you are 16 and under. If you are older it's the smart thing to do! I fell off my bike and my helmet cracked saving my head.
